ALVINA IDA O’DIERNO

Alvina Ida O’Dierno (nee Stevenson), 68, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away on April 13, 2026, at Adena Fayette Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born October 28, 1957, at Highlands Community Hospital in HiIlsboro, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Howard Wilson and Beatrice Hilda Bott Stevenson.

Alvina was one of seven siblings and was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Kenny, and Howard Stevenson, and her sister, Kathy (Stevenson) Busch. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Jane Zinzle of Goshen and Rose Ann Lewis (Stevenson).

She graduated from Clermont Northeastern, class of 1976.

In 1977, Alvina began her career as a machine operator for Sinco in Mount Carmel, Ohio, where she worked until 1985. During her time there, she earned certifications in Basic Blueprint Reading in 1981, and Shop Math in 1982,

In 1986, she began working in the medical field at Case ConvaLescent Center in Washington Court House, Ohio, where she cared for those unable to care for themselves until 1990. She then worked at Greenfield Research in Greenfield, Ohio, from 1990 to 1997, and later as a security guard for Montgomery Security Services from 1999 to 2000.

From 2001 to 2009, Alvina pursued higher education, intending to earn a degree in substance abuse counseling and become a social worker. Although she was unable to complete her degree, her desire to help others remained evident.

In 2009, due to ongoing and worsening medical conditions, she retired and became a stay-at-horne mother, and in 2010, a devoted stay-at-home grandmother.

She was married three times, most recentLy to Nick O’Dierno on September 19, 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Lynn O’Dierno (Andrew Bracken), and granddaughter, Onyx Cravens, whom she helped raise and dearLy loved.

Alvina lived a life defined by resilience, hard work, and deep Love for her family. She had a personality that was uniquely her own. She loved watching paranormal shows, especially her favorite “Paranormal Nightmare”, which she followed faithfully–and proudly wore her themed sweatshirt. She never went a day without her favorite Turbo coffee and cigarettes. She enjoyed gardening on good days, people watching, cinnamon twist doughnuts, and spending time playing House Flipper on the computer.

She will be remembered for the everyday moments shared with her family, including morning coffee at the kitchen table and time spent caring for her home and animals.

 

Alvina had a deep love for animals and cared for many throughout her life. It is comforting to imagine the many pets who have gone before her now waiting to greet her again.

She may not have measured her life in wealth, but in love, perseverance, and the life she built for her family. From moving across Ohio and living in Indiana, to finally having a place to call home and raising chickens, she created a life full of meaningful moments and mernories.

Alvina will be remembered for her strength, her stubborn spirit, her humor, and the love she gave so freely to those closest to her.  She will be deeply missed.

In accordance with her wishes, Alvina wilI be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
