SAMUEL RICHARD BROWN

Samuel Richard Brown, 78, of Canal Winchester, Ohio died Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 7:15 a.m. at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus where he had been residing the  past week.

Sam was born November 6, 1947, in Clarksburg, Ohio to Richard and Ruth Hosler Brown.  He was a 1965 graduate of Clarksburg High School and attended The Ohio State University.  He had lived most of his life in Fayette County before moving to Canal Winchester in 2023.

Before his retirement, he was an agricultural salesman for Landmark, Countrymark, Land-O-Lakes and Ag Alliance.

He had formerly attended WCH Grace Methodist Church.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joy Areta Long in 1998.  He was also preceded by a brother, Paul Brown.

He is survived by two children, Brian Brown and his wife, Bryn, of Denver, CO and Heather Gibson and her husband, Chad, of Upper Arlington, OH and three grandchildren, Marissa Joy and Mackenzie Ann Gibson and Rhoades Richard Brown.

The funeral will be Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Mell Wickensimer, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery near Clarksburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
