ROGER ELLIS RAPP

Roger Ellis Rapp, 94, of Bloomingburg, Ohio died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 9:05 a.m. at the Court House Manor Nursing Home where he had been a patient since September 1.

Roger was born December 13, 1928, in Fayette County, Ohio to Omar B. and Rena E. Siemon Rapp.  He was a graduate of Bloomingburg High School and was a lifelong resident of the Bloomingburg community where he was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Bloomingburg Methodist Church and the Corn and Soybean Club.  He had formerly been a member of the National Farmers Organization and the Bloomingburg Lions Club

On August 23, 1953, he married the former Eleanor Jo Elliott.  She preceded him in death on January 18, 2013.  He was also preceded by two grandsons, Tony Witherspoon and Miles Mace; a brother, Wilbur Rapp and a sister, Marjorie Braun.

He is survived by four children and their spouses, Bryan Rapp and his wife, Marlene, of Upper Arlington, Teresa Witherspoon of New Holland, Jolene Cockerill and her husband, Dewey, of New Martinsburg and Beth Mace and her husband, Doug, of Washington Court House; eight grandchildren, Parker Rapp, Dirk Witherspoon, W. J. Fannin, Fara Moseley, Casey Cockerill, Hayley Lovett, Morgan Monroe and Mariah Roberts; 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Esther Braun of Washington Court House.

A private graveside service will be held in Bloomingburg Cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Webb, pastor at the Bloomingburg Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date.
