Doris Evelyn Russell, 95, of New Holland, Ohio died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 3:20 a.m. at Court House Manor Nursing Home where she had been a patient since August 6.
Doris was born May 13, 1929, in New Holland, Ohio to Leroy and Helen Stonerock Funk and was a lifelong resident of the New Holland community.
She attended the Good Hope United Methodist Church and the New Holland Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and took great pride in teaching her great granddaughter, Chloe Russell, how to quilt.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. “Jack” Russell on October 10, 2019; by three brothers, Edmond, Gene and Dale Funk and two sisters, Janet Hooks and Helen Ingram.
Doris considered her greatest gift from God to be her children and devoted grandchildren, all of whom made them a family.
She is survived by three children, Tony Speakman and his wife, Sylvia, of Galveston, TX, Tim Williams and his wife, Renee, of St. Cloud, FL and Mark Russell and his wife, Teri, of Mount Sterling, KY; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, September 20, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with the Rev. David Yinger, pastor at the Brown’s Chapel and Clarksburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland from 11 a.m. Friday until time the of the service.
