Donald Alan Duncan, 66, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, May 6, 2022, at his home.  His death was sudden and unexpected.

Donald was born May 28,1955, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Kenneth Willard and Esther Louise Rinehart Duncan.  He was a 1973 graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community.

He was a forklift operator at General Motors/Delphi in Columbus for 30 years before his retirement in 2006.

Donald was a member of Bloomingburg Lodge F. & A.M. #449.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, golf, and motorcycles but especially spending time with his family.

On June 29, 1973, he married the former Iris Mae Bradshaw.  She preceded him in death on May 1, 2022.  He was also preceded by his parents.

He  is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Brittanie Duncan of Westerville; four sisters, Kathy Massie and her husband, Jim, of Largo, FL, Nancy Mustard, Penny Henize and her husband, Tom, and Mary Elkins, all of Washington Court House; his dog, Toby and grand dog, Marshmallow, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A Masonic service  will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.  The funeral will immediately follow, with Todd Maurer, connections minister at the South Side Church of Christ, officiating.   Burial will be in the Highlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 Noon Wednesday until time of the service.

Carol Ann Witherspoon Carey, 75, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 12:38 a.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus where she had been a patient since April 14.

Carol was born March 10, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio to Richard Ruley and Ruth C. Malone Witherspoon.  She was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School and a 1969 graduate of Miami University with a B.A. in speech and communications.

She worked for nearly ten years at TV-4 in Columbus in various production capacities.  While there, she was awarded a listing in Outstanding Young Business Women in America.  In 1972, she became writer/producer/director of the live entertainment drama titled “I’ll See You In Court.” for which she won a local Emmy from the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences.

Returning to Fayette County in 1979, she worked as director of advertising for Pennington Bread and in 1982 became curator of the Fayette County Museum.  She wrote numerous newspaper articles and presented different slide and movie presentations throughout the community for which she received an award from the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums for “Outstanding Contributions to Local History.”  In 1993, she authored the book, Fayette County Ohio: A Pictorial History, on behalf of the Fayette County Historical Society.  She also authored True Blue: A History of the Washington City School District.

She served two years as executive director of the Chamber of Commerce and owned and operated P R Plus, in which she represented various local businesses and agencies.  She had served as a trustee for Southern State Community College and, for 12 years, was on the board of directors of Fayette County Memorial Hospital.  For many years, she served as a poll worker and judge with the Fayette County Board of Elections.  She was a volunteer with the Fayette County Food Pantry at the First Presbyterian Church and a supporter of pet networking.  She assisted her husband in training sessions and computer interacting with the Lions Club and had attended two international conventions of Lions International.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol is survived by her husband, James N. (Jay) Carey whom she married on March 15, 1991; two step children, Tami Paquette and her husband, David, of Gahanna and Bradley Carey and his wife, Marcy, of Marengo; a brother, Richard J. Witherspoon of Washington Court House, several cousins, including the Rev. Jack B. Witherspoon and her beloved dog, Tipper.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Washington Court House with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

A celebration of life service, with complete firefighter honors, for Clyde Hockenbery, 91, of Washington Court House, Ohio will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Judy Chapel in the Washington Cemetery with Larry Baker, retired chaplain from the Upper Arlington Fire Department, officiating.

Friends may call at the Judy Chapel Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of the service.

Clyde was born November 29, 1930, at West Jefferson in Madison County, Ohio to James Spencer and Nettie Marie Braithwaite Hockenbery.  He was a 1948 graduate of West Jefferson High School and moved to Washington Court House in 1977, from West Jefferson.

He retired as a lieutenant in 1984, from the Upper Arlington Fire Department after 25 years of service.  He was a member of Firefighters International #1521 and the Retired Firefighters Association.

On February 17, 1977, he married the former Vera Jane Lamb.  She preceded him in death on December 28, 2018.  He was the last of eight siblings.

Clyde is survived by children, Denise Butkus and her husband, Al, of Sebastian, FL, Nancy Humphrey, Annette Beam and her husband, Thomas, Robin Jones and her husband, Al, and Linda Roy, all of West Jefferson, Keith Hockenbery and his wife, Kim, of Sebastian, FL, Donald Palmer, Jr., of Washington Court House, Pamela Stapleton and her husband, Jim, of Staunton, and Teresa Streitenberger and her husband, David, of Washington Court House and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Clyde died December 12, 2021, at his home.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation was observed.

Wilma Jean Bailey, 91, of Amanda, Ohio, died Monday, May 2, 2022, at 8:20 a.m. at the Brown Memorial Home in Circleville where she had been residing the past month.

Wilma was born March 11, 1931, at Higginsport in Brown Co., Ohio to Adam John and Maddie Bernice Haughboo Schadle. She had lived many years in Clairmont County before moving to New Holland.  She lived 37 years in New Holland before moving to Amanda in 2013.

She formerly was a home health aide and had also worked for 3 Moms Catering.

Wilma was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ.

On February 14, 1948, she married Elmer Roy Bailey.  He preceded her in death on November 21, 2019.  She was also preceded in by a son, Roy Dale Bailey; a brother, Charles Kenneth Schadle and two sisters, Elizabeth Marguerite Hamilton and Mary Lee Pingle.

Wilma is survived by three children and their spouses, Eddie Ray and Cheryl Bailey of Georgetown, Ohio, Gene Alan and Jacqueline Bailey of Amanda and Mary Elizabeth and Eric Wuichner of Orient, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bailey of Grove City; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the New Holland Cemetery with the Rev. Richard A. Matthews, former pastor at the New Holland Church of Christ, officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland.

Iris Mae Duncan, 66, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 8:12 a.m. at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Westerville.

Iris was born June 15, 1955, in Clinton County, Ohio, to Charles Bernard and Agathe Elsa Pallmer Bradshaw.  She was a 1973 graduate of Miami Trace High School and lived most of her life in this community.

She had formerly worked at Case Convalescent Center, Thatcher Plastics and Calmar.

Iris was an avid bowler and golfer.  She enjoyed going to the casinos, auctions, yard sales, collecting antiques and drinking coffee.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Iris is survived by her husband, Donald Alan Duncan whom she married June 29, 1973; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Brittanie Duncan of Westerville; five siblings, Dr. Michael Pallmer and his wife, Faye, of Minocqua, Wisconsin, Sylvia M. Bradshaw, Carmen Bradshaw Penwell and Gene Bradshaw, all of Washington Court House and Don Bradshaw and his wife, Diane, of St. Cloud, Florida; her beloved dog, Toby and grand dog, Marshmallow, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

The funeral will be Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Todd Maurer, connections minister at the South Side Church of Christ, officiating..   Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery.

Ursula Johanna Williams, 80, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 8:35 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington Court House where she had been a patient since April 12.

Mrs. Williams was born April 11, 1942, in Nuremberg, West Germany to Wilhelm Johann Wolfgang and Kunigunde Anna Moller Seiffarth.  She moved to Fayette County, Ohio in 1963, and to Washington Court House in 1973.  She became a United States Citizen on June 9, 1992.

She had attended two years of technical school in Nuremberg, majoring in retail sales and marketing.   She formerly was a bookkeeper at the G. C. Murphy Store, Murphy Mart and Ames Department Store.  She worked at Airborne, retiring 13 years after the closing of the Ames store.  She also taught German classes for local community education programs.

Reared as a Lutheran, she was a member of All Saints Church.  She enjoyed, animals, dancing, and meeting new people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewey Edward Williams on June 25, 2007, and a son, Dewey E. “Eddie” Williams, II on April 6, 2022.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, Danny Joe Williams of Washington Court House; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Williams of Good Hope and three grandchildren, Jesse and Jake Williams of Dayton and Lailah Gay of Washington Court House.

The funeral will be Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. DeVon Davis, chaplain for ProMedica Hospice, officiating.  Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremains at a later date in Washington Cemetery

Jeb Andrew Blevins, 63, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 5:45 p.m. at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where he had been a patient 2½ weeks.

Jeb was born May 20,1958, in Williamson, WV to Elza Ray and Dora Ellen Charles Blevins.  He was a graduate of Bluefield High School in Bluefield WV and attended Bluefield College and Bluefield State College before receiving an associate degree from Morehead State University.  He moved to Washington Court House in 1990, from Hilliard, Ohio.

He was a bookkeeper for Leading Edge Technologies, North Shore Primitivities and Vanessa L. Blevins, CPA and Company.

Jeb was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, the former Vanessa Lynn Conley whom he married June 5, 1982; two children, Ali Blevins of Columbus and Zack Blevins and his wife, Ashley, of Harker Heights, TX; his mother, Dora E. Blevins of Fredericksburg, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Laura Lynn Blevins of Bluefield, VA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Abbie and Shawn Harpel of Fredericksburg, VA and Deena and Steve Moore of Grove City, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeb was a giving person and his final gift was that of tissue and cornea donation to save and heal the lives of others.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

William Barton (Bart) Montgomery, 94, of Washington Court House, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 9:55 p.m. at Four Seasons of Washington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he had been a patient since March 25.

Bart was born June 20, 1927, in Washington Court House, Ohio to William Wesley and Clara Mae Morris Montgomery.  He graduated from Washington High School in 1945, as senior class president. He continued his education at The Ohio State University, graduating with a degree in agriculture business in 1948.  He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  Following his discharge from the Army, Bart returned to Fayette County and started his lifelong farming career, first with his father and then with his son and grandsons.

Bart was an active in Farm Bureau and Nationwide Insurance, serving on the board of directors of both organizations.  He was a member the Grace United Methodist Church where he had been a Sunday school teacher and served on numerous committees.  He was also a member of Fayette Lodge F. & A.M. #107 and AGS fraternity.  Bart and his wife, Laurel, had traveled extensively and had visited every state in the union in addition to several countries in Europe and Asia, including Russia and China. He developed many lifelong friends from over the years.

On March 24, 1956, he married his beloved childhood friend, the former Laurel Ford.  They celebrated 59 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on June 9, 2015.  He was also preceded by his parents and two sisters, Alice Montgomery Herrmann and June Montgomery Pero.

Bart is survived by a son, Keith A.  (Hope Tolle) Montgomery of Washington Court House; a daughter, Jan (Richard) Taeuber of Seminole, FL; four grandchildren, Wesley W. (Brandi) Montgomery and Kyle W. (Katie) Montgomery, Jennifer (Andrew) Kennedy, and Michelle (Benjamin) Bechtold; five great grandchildren, Wiley and Josie Belle Montgomery, Ella and Quinn Montgomery and Abigail Kennedy.  He was proudly expecting the birth of three additional great grandchildren this summer. He is also survived by brother, Robert Montgomery and several special nieces and nephews.

A Masonic service, led by the brethren of Fayette Lodge #107, will be conducted Monday, April 18, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church.  The funeral will immediately follow the Masonic service with the Rev. Matt Brookes, pastor at the church, and Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Tammy Sue Glispie, 56, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, April 8, 2022, at 11:47 a.m. at her home.

Tammy was born June 18, 1965, in Washington Court House, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of this community.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, Edwin Rolfe; grandmother, Garnet Shadley; uncle, Ernest “Junior” Barnett and aunts, Vonnie Shadley, Phyllis Phillips and Helen Davis,

Tammy is survived by her husband, Tony Lee Glispie whom she married June 1, 1996; five daughters, Tonya Annon and her husband, Paul, of Greenfield, Melissa Bailey of Mt. Gilead, OH, Gladys Annie Bailey, Felicia Bailey and Rhonda Bailey, all of Washington Court House; a step-son, Richard Cox of Washington Court House; 12 grandchildren; her mother, Nancy Barnett Rolfe of Washington Court House; a brother, Eddie Conger and his wife, Chris, of Orient, OH; two sisters, Terry Staten and her husband, Charlie, of Columbus, and Tracy Nicholson of Marysville; an uncle, Ronald Barnett of Washington Court House; two aunts, Bessie Posey and Garnet A. Shadley, both of Washington Court House and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with John Pfeifer, pastor at the Gathering Place, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Carolyn Sue Stoughton, 76, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 4:40 a.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe where she had been a patient since Tuesday.

Carolyn was born February 18, 1946, in Fayette County, Ohio to Paul E. and Daisy Justice Harrison.  She lived most of her life in this community.

She was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church and had served as treasurer of the Fayette County Commission on Aging.

On June 24, 1969, she married William Lincoln Stoughton.  He was preceded her in death on January 6, 2011.  She was also preceded by a brother, Thomas Harrison and a sister, Shirley Gilley.

She is survived by a son, John A. Stoughton of New Holland; a nephew who was reared as a son, Rusty Harrison of Washington Court House and his children, Silace Harrison and Rakeya Benson and a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Ralph Burgess of Washington Court House.

The funeral will be Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Adam Lynch, minister at Crossroads Christian Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Highlawn Cemetery.
