Mark Denny Scott, 79, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 3:50 a.m. at Court House Manor where he had been residing since November 25.
Mark was born May 18, 1944, in Fayette County, Ohio to William Thomas and Celestia Cleora Speakman Scott. He was a 1975 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of his life in this community.
Before his retirement he worked in janitorial and maintenance services for various companies.
Mark was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion, O. E. Hardway Post #3762 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Washington Court House Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ronald, Carl, Thomas, Raymond and Glenn Scott.
Mark, who was never married, is survived by three sisters, Janice Scott and Nancy Scott, both of Washington Court House and Betty Shears of Centerville, Ohio and several nieces and nephews including his special caregiver and niece, Celestia Sykes.
The funeral will be Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at WCH Grace Methodist Church, officiating. Following cremation, burial of the cremains will be in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

I was privileged to meet Mark, a relative of my husband, recently. He joked that people in WCH thought he and his sister were husband and wife, as they were always together, walking around town and fishing. As he talked about his military service and his family, I found him to be a caring, dutiful, good-natured person.
