Frederick Lewis Self, Jr., 58, of Clarksburg, Ohio died Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 4:10 p.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe where he had been a patient since earlier in the day.
Fred was born on May 26, 1968, in Fayette County, Ohio to Frederick Lewis and Lillie Mae Redding Self. He lived most of his life in Pickaway, Ross and Fayette Counties.
He had been a well digger for 30 years and retired, earlier this year, as foreman at Moody’s of Dayton, Inc.
Fred enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, riding Harley motorcycles and rock and roll music. However, his greatest pleasure was hanging out with his many special friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marsha Clark and Joyce Messer.
Fred is survived by three children, Jason Spaulding and his wife, Amanda, of Kermit, WV; Chrystal Rivas and her husband, Robert, of Chillicothe and Frederick L. Self, III and his girlfriend, Cassandra Norman, of Frankfort; Fred Jr.’s girlfriend, Amy Grills; two bonus daughters, Mackenzie Gillillin and Anna Betts; six grandchildren, two sisters, Rhonda (Ronald) Posey of Chillicothe and Louise (Doug) Posey of Frankfort; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
The funeral will be held Monday, August 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland on Monday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
