Delbert Jerome “Jerry” Newton, 85, of New Holland, Ohio died peacefully Monday, July 27, 2026, at 6:19 a.m. at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born September 11, 1940, in Pike County, Ohio to Delbert and Bessie Dyke Newton. He was a graduate of Atlanta High School and was a lifelong resident of the Atlanta/Judas Road community.
He retired from the Scioto Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Circleville where he had worked for 31 years. He also worked for the Pickaway County Engineer for 19 years and always stayed active on the family farm.
Jerry was a loyal member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church and served on most all of the church committees and boards and was well known for frying fish at the church’s fish fry dinners. He was a 60+ year member of Heber Lodge F.&A.M. #501 and a 50-year member and past worthy patron of Heber Chapter #62 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Williamsport and was also a member of the 32nd Degree Masons, Valley of Columbus.
He thoroughly enjoyed frying fish and making pork rinds which he graciously shared with many people.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Janet Newton and two brothers-in-law, Carl Hooks and Hugh Graves.
Jerry is survived by his wife, the former Jo Ann Graves whom he married February 5,1960; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Jerome and Becky Newton of New Holland; a daughter and son-in-law, Juliana and Russell Boldoser of Kingston; seven grandchildren, Olivia Boldoser Fleetwood and her husband, Roman; Bowen Boldoser and his wife, McKinley, Maria Boldoser, Daniell Newton Weider and her husband, R.J., Devin Newton Welsh and her husband, Brady, Denise Huff and her husband, Tony, and Craig Imler; great grandchildren, Philippa Fleetwood, Joey Weider, Abigail, Nora and Della, Justin and Abby Brungs, Logan and D.J. Huff, Taylor Imler, Mallory and Colton Cope, Carlee Imler; great great grandchildren, Tate and Tre Huff and Layne, Austyn, Norma and Raya Imler; two sisters, Wanda Hooks of Circleville and Connie Stoker and her husband, William of Five Points and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Atlanta United Methodist Church with Ivon Roberson, chaplain with Heartland Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. A Masonic service, which is open to the public, will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church.
Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

I worked with Jerry for over 20 years at Coca-Cola Circleville. Jerry was a great man and he earned the respect of all that worked on the routes and on the production line. Towards the end of Coca-Cola Circleville as we knew it, Jerry was the only
Person in management that I could trust.
Jerry was a good man and I don’t believe that anyone could disagree.
