Frances Cook Wilson, 98, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at 1:26 a.m. at Four Seasons of Washington Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had been residing since May 3, 2019.

Frances was born November 22, 1923, in Fayette County, Ohio to Parley Merle and Florence Evans Cook.  She was a graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community. She had formerly worked at the Fayette County American Automobile Association.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had been a volunteer with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She and her twin sister, Florence Heironimus, were previously honored by the Presbytery of Scioto Valley with the prestigious “Women of Faith” award for their long-time dedication and devotion to the Presbyterian Church.

Frances was an avid bowler and bridge player.  She, along with her sister Florence, were former longtime bowlers in the Wednesday Evening Ladies Bowling League and also had been members of several bridge clubs.

On September 8, 1944, she married James Marion Wilson, Jr.  He preceded her in death on January 11, 2002.  She was also preceded by a son, Bruce E. Wilson in 2017; brother, Robert Cook in 1987, and three sisters, Lolita Douds in 1999, Elizabeth (Betty) Jefferson in 2003, and her twin, Florence Heironimus in 2018.

Frances is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Merle and Caroline Wilson of Columbus and Steven Mark and Jean Wilson of Zanesfield, OH; a daughter-in-law, Judy Wilson of Washington Court House; six grandchildren, Frances Louise (Avi) Herbst, Kristi M. (Cari) Wilson, Chad E. Spires, Carey Wilson, Amy Wilson and Corey (Ashley) Wilson; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Daxli and Rhett Wilson and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington Court House with the Rev. Steve Brand, pastor at the church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of the service.

A graveside service honoring the life of Rita Zellers Squires, age 81, of Lancaster, will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, at Kirkersville Cemetery with Brent Kirkpatrick officiating.  Following the service, the family will be celebrating Rita with an open house from 1-4 p.m. at the Davis Shai House located at 301 Central Parkway, Heath, Ohio (facility is located behind the Walmart store).

Rita was born July 8, 1940, in Baltimore, Ohio. She passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at her home.

Rita retired from Southwest Licking Schools where she was employed for 25 years.

She was a proud member of the Watkins Memorial High School Class of 1958.

Rita was very involved with La Sertoma service organization in Pataskala and was a volunteer with the Davis-Shai House in Heath. She enjoyed sewing and made blankets for Newborns In Need. Rita was also a previous member of the Vintage Voices in Granville.

She is survived by her loving family including her mother, Esther (Poff) Zellers of Washington Court House; three children, Jon Gregory “Greg” Squires (Paige) of Ashland, Mark Eugene Squires (Cyndi) of Lancaster, and Mary Jill Miller (Mr. Hicks) of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Corey Perkins (Amanda) of Washington, D.C., Benjamin Squires (Annamarie) of Lithopolis, Jonni Perkins-Irwin (Chris) of Columbus, Abbi Howson (Stephen) of Cincinnati, Allie Burns (Nate) of Perrysburg, and Drew Squires (fiancée, Rachel) of Michigan; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dixie Hott, Diana Kirkpatrick (Roger), and Terri Kirkpatrick (Bruce); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie R. Squires; father, Derwin Zellers and a sister, Linda Waller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

A memorial service for Ernestine (Tina) King Rawlins, 93,  will be held Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the  Washington Cemetery with the Rev. Father Warren Huestis, pastor at the All Saints Church, officiating.  Burial of the cremains will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

Tina passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Friendship Village of Dublin after a short illness. She spent her final days with loving family members, supported by hospice and the nursing staff of Friendship Village.

Tina was born in Rockmart, Georgia on June 5, 1928, to Ernest and Lois King.

She was a graduate of Rockmart High School in Rockmart Georgia, and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in journalism from Mercer University in Macon Georgia. While at Mercer, Tina met her beloved husband Charles R. Rawlins, a returning WWII veteran attending Mercer on the GI Bill.

After graduating, Tina worked as an elementary school teacher in the Atlanta area and began to raise a family. In 1958, her husband’s employment by the federal government brought her to the Washington D.C. area. A subsequent position with the State Department U.S. Agency for International Development allowed Tina and her family to move overseas. From 1964 through 1974, the family lived in Thailand, Pakistan, and Vietnam. These years abroad were some of the most influential of Tina’s life and were a period of great adventure for the entire family. She continued to teach, and was a valued partner to her husband, supporting his work in aid of the global community. After leaving Saigon, Vietnam in 1974, Tina and her husband returned to the U.S., living in the Washington D.C. area where they both finished their careers. In 1986 Tina and her husband moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to be closer to family.

After her husband’s death in 2004, Tina moved to Washington Court House to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

Tina was a member of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church (now All Saints Church), where she served on the altar guild. She was a volunteer at Fayette Memorial Hospital, and for Fayette County Hospice. She had many hobbies, including interior design, antiquing, gardening, bridge, sewing, needle point, reading, and shopping. Though she loved a journey of any kind, she was also happy at home, curled up with a good book and a cat by her side. Through her beauty, intelligence, and singular way of approaching life, she elevated every occasion. She will remain an absolute treasure to her family.

In addition to her parents, Tina was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Rawlins, and by her daughters Marie King Rawlins and Sharon Lynne Mavis.

Tina is survived by her son, Charles Rawlins and daughter-in-law Jill Rawlins of Nederland Colorado; her son-in-law, Geoffrey Mavis of Bloomingburg; grandchildren Rachael Smith and her husband, Dale Shane Smith, of Worthington Ohio; James Mavis and wife, Nicole Mavis, of Bloomingburg; Samuel Rawlins of Boulder Colorado, and Charles Rawlins of Nederland Colorado; great grandchildren Dale Marie Smith, Ian Mavis, and Isaac Mavis, a brother Bruce King of Dublin Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.

Hayzley Grace Nichols, five-day old daughter of McKenzie Danielle Everhart and Carter Michael Nichols, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 1:24 p.m. shortly after admission to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.  She was born Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her maternal grandparents, Jason and Danielle Meadows of Washington Court House; paternal grandparents, Leslie and Mike Nichols of Wilmington; great grandparents, Donna Everhart, Bob Berlin and Evelyn Nichols; an uncle, Jaxon Meadows; an aunt, Josie Nichols; several cousins and great aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

Cremation will follow the visitation.

Douglas James Reynolds, 65, of Wilmington, Ohio died Monday, June 13, 2022, at 1:49 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he had been admitted earlier in the day.

Doug was born April 13, 1957, in Georgetown, Ohio to James Estle and Betty Jane Frymon Reynolds.  He was a 1975 graduate of Bethel High School and lived most of his life in Bethel.  He moved to Wilmington four years ago from Washington Court House.

Before his retirement, he had been an electrician at Cincinnati Milacron and an engineer at the Ford Motor Plant in Utica, MI.

Doug was a member of the Dove Church in Wilmington and a volunteer with the Sugar Tree Ministries.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug is survived by two sons, Matthew Gregory Reynolds and his fiancée, Larissa Tipton, of Washington Court House and James Douglas Reynolds of Ypsilanti, MI and a sister, Julie of Xenia, Ohio.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place.

A private memorial service will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Steve Fricke, associate pastor at the Dove Church, officiating.

Christy Lynn Trimmer, 66, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 3:59 p.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe where she had been a patient since Tuesday following a sudden illness.

Christy was born December 2, 1955, in Elmhurst, IL to Rupert (Earl) and Norma Kemble Timmons.  She was a graduate of Glen Hard South High School in Glen Ellyn, IL and attended classes at the DuPage County Community College.

Her grandfather was a Baptist minister from whom she developed a deep faith of the Holy Trinity.  Christy looked forward to her twice weekly gatherings with valued friends.  Her hobbies included quilting, creating silver and copper jewelry, exploring family genealogy then compiling individual scrapbooks, reading classic and contemporary British mysteries genre, identifying songbirds, and viewing celestial phenomena.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a toddler daughter, Huntre Anne and a son, Thomas A. Trimmer, Jr. (325^th Airborne infantry).

Christy is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Thomas A. Trimmer whom she married January 19, 1983; her children, Britton Trimmer, Christian Trimmer (John), Rebecca Trimmer and Logan Trimmer and siblings, Don Timmons (Joy), Becky Koehnen (Mike), Carol Erickson (Brian), Greg Timmons and Brian Timmons (Nancy).

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place and a private family memorial service will follow in the future.

Roger Duane Boswell, 83, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, June 10, 2022, at 5:39 a.m. at the Mount Carmel Grove City Medical Center where he had been a patient since Wednesday.  His death was sudden and unexpected.

Roger was born December 19, 1938, in Washington Court House, Ohio to David Wayne and Dorothy King Boswell.  He was a 1957 graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community.

Before his retirement in 1997, he was a punch press operator at Armco for 35 years.

He was a United State Navy veteran and served as an aviation electronics technician aboard the USS Intrepid.  He was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion; O. E. Hardway Post #3762 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Grace United Methodist Church.

Roger enjoyed fishing, boating, nature, the outdoors and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Ella Boswell.

Roger is survived by his wife, the former Janice Kay Leeth whom he married October 26, 1962; two daughters, Julie A. Boswell of Pataskala, OH and Amy L. Boswell of Washington Court House; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Beverly Boswell of Washington Court House; nephews, Doug (Michelle) Boswell, David A. Boswell, Rodney (Kim) Boswell, Gregg (Nancy) Gilmore and Gary (Laura) Gilmore; several grand nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rhoda and Clinton Gilmore and special friend, Ron Brownlee.

The funeral was held Tuesday, June14, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Matt Brookes, pastor at the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.  Several memorial tributes were offered by family members and friends.

Pallbearers for the burial in Washington Cemetery were Doug, David A. and Rodney Boswell, Gregg Gilmore and Joe Flach,

Complete Military honors were bestowed by the Fayette County Honor Guard.  Condolences, comments, and a prayer were offered by Eddie Fisher.  The flag, which draped the casket of the United State Navy veteran, was folded by Mike Curl and Dave Frederick and was presented to Roger’s wife, Janice Leeth Boswell.  Members of the honor guard were Tom Payne, Amy Jackson, Phil French, Pat Dewees, Tom Slager, Chuck Snyder and Cecil Ratliff with Bill Foody serving as commander.  Stephen Zastrow and Larry Bishop sounded Taps.

.A visitation was held Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of the service.

Mom, a very simple little word. Just three letters, but when examined over the course of one’s life there are simply no words, big or little, that can fairly or fully define the meaning of those three letters to those she loved and that loved her.

“Mom” is defined in the dictionary as “a female parent.”  In the business world it is an acronym for one in charge of “Management, Operations and Maintenance.”  Patricia Ann (“Patty”) Cox (October 3, 1937-June 6, 2022) was both and so much more.  Patty was 84 years of age when she passed on June 6, 2022, after a brief hospitalization.

Patty was born in Washington Court House, Ohio to Henry and Lucille (Patterson) Litz.  She had one brother, Charles (Sally) Litz of Topeka, Kansas, who predeceased her.  Patty attended Washington High School where she met and then married Charles G. (“Charlie”) Cox (deceased May 9, 2021).  Patty and Charlie were married on February 15, 1953, and remained lifelong friends even after their divorce later in their lives. They had four children, Dawne Arlene (Randy) Angel, Deborah Lynn Cox (Greg) Roush, Garth Glenn (Cindy) Cox and Teresa Marie Cox (Jeffrey) Hickey.

Patty was the true definition of a “mom.”  She was loving, caring, strict at times when needed, and truly the one in charge of the management, operations and maintenance of the Cox household and family. Patty was also the “neighborhood mom” to so many of her children’s friends.  She was active in the lives of her family and friends as well as her church, the South Side Church of Christ in Washington Court House and later Bay Life Church in Tampa. Florida.

Together Patty and Charlie, with the help of the family and many others, built one of the nation’s largest food and beverage special events companies, Concessions by Cox, Inc. Patty became “mom” to hundreds of employees that became part of the “Cox team” and worked for the company over the many years during which she was actively involved. It is this work that brought Patty to Florida in 1990.  Patty resided in Tampa and later Riverview, where she and her fifth “child” and constant companion, Henry, a Yorkshire Terrier, resided at the time of her passing.

Patty loved her family and was deeply loved by each of them.  She is survived by her children, sons-in-law and daughter-in-law.  Additional family members include 9 grandchildren, Travis (Brandi) Warner, Sonia (Dennis) Haithcock, Katelyn (Christian) Roush-Cooper, Brian (Amanda) Roush, Jason (Julie) Cox, Amanda Shaw, Townsend Cox, Morgan Scott, Jessie Hickey; 18 great-grandchildren, Abby, Jake and  Charli Warner, Audrey and Jack Charpentier, Raven and Raleigh Haithcock, Sophia, MacKenzie, Zack, Harper, Gracie and Aubrey Roush, Landon and Baylee Snyder, Mackenzie and Charlotte “Charli” Cox, and  Zoey Scott;  and numerous nieces and nephews. Patty is also survived by her dear friend and neighbor, Judy Harmyk.

A memorial service for Patricia Cox will be held on June 28, 2022, at the Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida, beginning with visitation at 5:00 pm and a service at 6:00 p.m.  There will be additional service and calling hours on July 2, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m., at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, 554 Washington Ave., Washington Court House, Ohio. An inurnment will follow at the Washington Memorial Cemetery, 1741 Washington Ave., Washington Court House, Ohio.

Franklin Hugh Lentz, 83, of Las Vegas, NV died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Lentz was born December 10, 1938, in Charleston WV to Franklin Rinehart and Helen Louise Tomlinson Lentz.  He had lived in Las Vegas since 1997.

He was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School; graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1961, and received a Masters of Business Administration from Murray State University in 1963.

Before his retirement in 2001, he was an engineer contracted to the Department of Energy.

He was a member of the Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Las Vegas and formerly was a member of the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church in Washington Court House.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn (Kay) Minshall Lentz in 2004.  He was also preceded by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Robert Lentz and a son-in-law, James Robert Burton.

Mr. Lentz is survived by his wife, Jean Marie Scott Kochevar-Lentz whom he married November 23, 2007; a daughter, Julie Kay Lentz Burton of Fairfax, VA; six step children; 12 step grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Marie (Cookie) and Wayne Coakley of Grove City, OH and Marjorie and Bill Hoffman of  Cincinnati and a sister-in-law, Nancy Lentz of Mauldin, SC.

The funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church, by the Rev. Father Cyrus Haddad, pastor at the church. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

A private visitation will be observed by the family.

Edward Estle Seay, 58, of Chillicothe, Ohio died Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 3:15 a.m. at his home.  He had been ill two years.

Ed was born February 28, 1964, in Greenfield, Ohio to (Clifford) Edward and (Wanda) Ann Martindale Seay. He was a 1982 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of his life in Chillicothe.

He formerly was a construction supervisor.

Ed was preceded in death by his father on August 14, 1980; by two sisters, Patty Ann Seay on January 11, 2017, and Barbara Larson on January 24, 2021; his grandparents, Clyde and Ottie Martindale and a nephew, Christopher Wysong and a great nephew, Skylor Burgos.

He is survived by his wife, the former Teresa Ann Bond whom he married March 15, 1991; a son, Aron Seay and his wife, Dawn, of Jeffersonville; a daughter, Amanda Seay of Chillicothe, two step daughters, Michelle Cook and Shawna Fyffe and her husband, Sam, all of Chillicothe; four grandchildren; his mother, Ann Seay of Washington Court House; two sisters, Kathy Hampton of Concord, NC and Ethel Wood of Washington Court House and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or service.
