Frances Cook Wilson, 98, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at 1:26 a.m. at Four Seasons of Washington Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had been residing since May 3, 2019.
Frances was born November 22, 1923, in Fayette County, Ohio to Parley Merle and Florence Evans Cook. She was a graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community. She had formerly worked at the Fayette County American Automobile Association.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had been a volunteer with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She and her twin sister, Florence Heironimus, were previously honored by the Presbytery of Scioto Valley with the prestigious “Women of Faith” award for their long-time dedication and devotion to the Presbyterian Church.
Frances was an avid bowler and bridge player. She, along with her sister Florence, were former longtime bowlers in the Wednesday Evening Ladies Bowling League and also had been members of several bridge clubs.
On September 8, 1944, she married James Marion Wilson, Jr. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2002. She was also preceded by a son, Bruce E. Wilson in 2017; brother, Robert Cook in 1987, and three sisters, Lolita Douds in 1999, Elizabeth (Betty) Jefferson in 2003, and her twin, Florence Heironimus in 2018.
Frances is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Merle and Caroline Wilson of Columbus and Steven Mark and Jean Wilson of Zanesfield, OH; a daughter-in-law, Judy Wilson of Washington Court House; six grandchildren, Frances Louise (Avi) Herbst, Kristi M. (Cari) Wilson, Chad E. Spires, Carey Wilson, Amy Wilson and Corey (Ashley) Wilson; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Daxli and Rhett Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington Court House with the Rev. Steve Brand, pastor at the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
