Todd Duane Maurer, 69, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 4:44 a.m. shortly after admission to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. His was a life well lived, doing what he loved: Christian Ministry.
Todd was born on December 24, 1956, in Canton, Ohio to Gene and Miriam Colledge Maurer. He was a graduate of Jackson High School in Massillon, Oho and received a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries from the Cincinnati Bible Seminary.
He began his ministry at the South Side Church of Christ in Washington Court House where he served from 1979 to 1982. He then served churches in Kissimmee, FL, Greenwood, IN and State College, Pa before returning to Washington Court House in 2003, to become minister at the First Christian Church and then Crossroads Christian Church. He retired in 2025, as involvement pastor at South Side Church of Christ. While at South Side, he was the leader of the 55 Alive ministry.
Todd enjoyed reading, studying, fishing and riding his scooter. Todd was a committed family man; the lights of his life were his beloved grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Maurer.
Todd is survived by his wife, the former Susan Lineberry whom he married May 10, 1980; a son, Jeremy Maurer; two grandchildren, Jake Maurer and Leighton Maurer, all of Washington Court House; a sister, Bonnie Lipely and her husband, David, of Columbiana, OH; a sister-in-law, Debbie Maurer of Lexington, KY and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the South Side Church of Christ with Matt Hippely, minister at the church, officiating. Todd’s longtime friend, Shawn McMullen, will offer remembrances. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
