Roger Duane Boswell, 83, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, June 10, 2022, at 5:39 a.m. at the Mount Carmel Grove City Medical Center where he had been a patient since Wednesday.  His death was sudden and unexpected.

Roger was born December 19, 1938, in Washington Court House, Ohio to David Wayne and Dorothy King Boswell.  He was a 1957 graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community.

Before his retirement in 1997, he was a punch press operator at Armco for 35 years.

He was a United State Navy veteran and served as an aviation electronics technician aboard the USS Intrepid.  He was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion; O. E. Hardway Post #3762 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Grace United Methodist Church.

Roger enjoyed fishing, boating, nature, the outdoors and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Ella Boswell.

Roger is survived by his wife, the former Janice Kay Leeth whom he married October 26, 1962; two daughters, Julie A. Boswell of Pataskala, OH and Amy L. Boswell of Washington Court House; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Beverly Boswell of Washington Court House; nephews, Doug (Michelle) Boswell, David A. Boswell, Rodney (Kim) Boswell, Gregg (Nancy) Gilmore and Gary (Laura) Gilmore; several grand nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rhoda and Clinton Gilmore and special friend, Ron Brownlee.

The funeral was held Tuesday, June14, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Matt Brookes, pastor at the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.  Several memorial tributes were offered by family members and friends.

Pallbearers for the burial in Washington Cemetery were Doug, David A. and Rodney Boswell, Gregg Gilmore and Joe Flach,

Complete Military honors were bestowed by the Fayette County Honor Guard.  Condolences, comments, and a prayer were offered by Eddie Fisher.  The flag, which draped the casket of the United State Navy veteran, was folded by Mike Curl and Dave Frederick and was presented to Roger’s wife, Janice Leeth Boswell.  Members of the honor guard were Tom Payne, Amy Jackson, Phil French, Pat Dewees, Tom Slager, Chuck Snyder and Cecil Ratliff with Bill Foody serving as commander.  Stephen Zastrow and Larry Bishop sounded Taps.

.A visitation was held Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
