Richard Lee Saxour, 78, of Frankfort, Ohio died Monday, April 13, 2026, at 8:15 p.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe where he had been a patient since April 7.
Richard was born October 23, 1947, in Pickaway County, Ohio near New Holland, to Adam and Berneice Funk Saxour. He was a graduate of Miami Trace High School and lived most of his life in Pickaway and Ross Counties.
Before his retirement, he was a corrections officer at the Pickaway County Correctional Institution. He loved horses and had been an owner and trainer of standardbred racehorses.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Adam “Sonny” and Janice Saxour.
He is survived by his wife, the former Deborah Sue Morris, whom he married June 9, 1973; two daughters, Amber Scott of Frankfort, Ohio and Heather Rawlings and her husband, Chad, of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Reagan (Rob) VanHoose, Riley (Tuh Nguyen) Scott and Clay (Brooke Allen) Rawlings, a great grandson, Forrest VanHoose; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Cheryl Saxour of New Holland; a sister, Mary Ann Riley of Athens, OH and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
To honor his wishes, cremation will be observed and there will be no visitation or service.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland.
