Oliver Lloyd “Ollie” Iden, 91, of Bloomingburg, Ohio, died Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:55 p.m. at Court House Manor where he had been a patient since March 16. Ollie loved being with his family and on his last day he was surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ollie was born February 22, 1935, in Chillicothe, Ohio to Lemuel Loyd and Grace Elizabeth Warner Iden. He was a 1953 graduate of Bloomingburg High School. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from The Ohio State University in 1958.
He was a lifelong farmer.
Ollie was a 70-year member and past master of Bloomingburg Lodge $449 F.& A.M..; was a pilgrim in the 1997 Greater Scioto Valley Walk to Emmas; was a member of the Fayette County Farm Bureau and attended WCH Grace Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United State Army. In recent years he enjoyed trail riding.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Nancy Iden and a brother-in-law, Jerold Cory.
Ollie is survived by his wife, the former Clara Stratton whom he married June 20, 1959; four children, Benjamín Howard Iden and his wife, Shari, of Covington, KY; Cynthia Ann Snide and her husband, Rick, of Westerville, OH, Joan Elizabeth Bowling and her husband, Greg, of Independence, KY and Dr. Samuel Iden and his wife, Etta, of Oxford, OH; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother, George R. Iden of Bethesda, MD and a sister, Elizabeth Cory of Delaware, OH.
The funeral will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at WCH Grace Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Masonic service, which is open to the public, will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
