Martin Blankenship, Sr., 71, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 2:15 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he had been a patient since April 3.
He was born on March 12, 1955, in Pickaway County, Ohio to Jesse and Orpha Hart Blankenship. He was a graduate of Teays Valley High School and lived most of his life in Pickaway and Fayette Counties.
Martin was a retired maintenance worker and had worked at numerous places including Scioto Downs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jesse Blankenship, Jr. Harley Blankenship, Thurman Eugene Blankenship and Rex Blankenship and three sisters, Pansy Gearing, Mazie Blankenship and Ethel Campbell.
Martin is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Kay “Cookie” Boysel whom he married February 9, 1978; four children, Tracy Garrett, Martin J. Blankenship, Jr. and his girlfriend, Destiny Cline, LeAnne Blankenship and Riley Blankenship and his wife, Allie, all of Washington Court House; 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Blankenship and his wife, Brenda, of Coolidge, GA, Darl Blankenship of Omaha, NE, Bill Blankenship of McArthur, OH; two sisters, Kandy Buccus and her husband, Rob, and Luella Barry, all of Grove City and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martin’s family wishes extends its sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for the professional and efficient care give to him and the compassion they extended to his entire family.
To honor his wishes, cremation will be observed and no visitation or services are being planned at this time.
