Larry Dean Self, 72, of Chillicothe, Ohio, died Monday, January 5, 2026, at 7:50 p.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health the past year.
He was born December 24,1953, to Pearl E. and Ruth Ellen Lambert Self, Jr. He was a 1973 graduate of Washington High School. He moved to Chillicothe in 2012, from Waverly, Ohio.
He formerly worked at Kroger in Washington Court House. He was store manager at the Waverly Kroger for 20 years and retired in 2007, from the Western Avenue Kroger store in Chillicothe after a total of 37 years of service.
Larry had an extensive collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia; was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes and he loved to travel. He made friends with everyone and was always willing to help out with anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cindy Self who died in March 2025, and a son-in-law, Michael Angelucci who died in January 2025.
Larry is survived by his wife, the former Jana L. Miller whom he married March 8, 1974; two sons, Keith Self of Farmington, WV and Kevin Self of Chillicothe; a brother and sister-in-law, Stacey and Katrina Self of Washington Court House; his beloved cat, Dark Kitty; several nieces and nephews; his friends in the Tim Horton’s Coffee Club and a host of other dear friends and acquaintances.
The funeral will be Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. at WCH Grace Methodist Church with Matt Brookes, pastor at the church officiating. Cremation will follow the services with burial of the cremains at a later date in the High Top Cemetery in Highland County.
Friends may call at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
