John Daniel “Danny” Shaw, 76, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 7:36 a.m. at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Medical Center where he had been a patient the past week.
Danny was born January 18, 1949, in New Holland, Ohio to Bryce Briggs and Elizabeth Hurles Shaw. He was a 1967 graduate of Miami Trace High School and lived most of his life in New Holland and Washington Court House.
He was a machinist at Mac Tools for over 20 years and, before retiring in 2009, worked at Showa Aluminum for 15 years. He was a proud member of the United States Steel Workers and had served as president of the local union.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion, AmVets Post #3571; O. E. Hardway Post #3762 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fayette Aerie #423 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Danny loved politics and government and was a strong supporter of the local Democrat committee. He enjoyed John Wayne movies, country music, particularly Hank “Bocephus” Williams, Jr. He was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes; Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds and but his favorite past time was attending the sporting events of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Derrick Shaw; grandsons, George Junior Conaway and Hayden Ramsey and a sister, Shirley Ann Moore.
He is survived by four children, Stacy (George) Conaway of Kenton, Ohio, Beth (Scott) Ramsey, J.D. Shaw, Jr. and Kyle (Jill) Shaw, all of Washington Court House; seven grandchildren, Alexis Ramsey, Ashley Conaway, Mason (Bailey) Smith, Andrew, Lilly and Sophia Shaw and Maddie (Shane) Dray; six great grandchildren, Luxie, Brilyn and Styker Conaway, Kane and Kooper Ramsey and Josie Dray; a brother, Gregg Shaw of New Holland and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
