Gladys Leota Murphy, 83, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 9:42 a.m. at Carriage Court Assisted Living where she had been residing since April 7, 2024.
Gladys was born April 9, 1942, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Gilbert and Dorothy Bowermaster Webb. Except for ten years in Brown County, Ohio, she lived most of her life in Washington Court House where she was a retired factory worker.
She was a life member of AmVets Post #3571 Auxiliary in Washington Court House and the Simon Kenton Post #2734 Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Maysville, KY.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Murphy, Jr. in 1990. She was also preceded by the father of her children, Larry Hayner in 1970, and two brothers, Isaac Webb and Thomas Webb.
She is survived by three children, Cynthia Long and her husband, Ray, of Sardinia, Charles E. Hayner and his fiancée, Mandi Gray, of Washington Court House and Melinda Smith of Leesburg; four grandchildren and a great grandchild.
To honor her wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or funeral.
Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in the Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
