JEAN SPENCER MAUST

Jean Spencer Maust, 91, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Monday, November 29, 2021, at 5 a.m. at her home.

She was born June 12, 1930, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Paul R. and Mary Elizabeth Sowders Spence.  She was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School and a lifelong resident of his community

Before her retirement, she had served 20 years as an occupational instructor at Fayette Progressive Industries.

She attended Anchor Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, and babysitting.

On October 17, 1948, she married Robert Lee Maust.  He preceded in death in death on November 1, 2020.  She was also preceded by a sister, Nancy Caroline Andrews and a son-in-law, James L. Layne.

She is survived by three children, Jeri Lynn Layne, Michael Maust and his wife, Lyn, and Bradley Maust and his wife, Teri, all of Washington Court House; seven grandchildren, Cori (Jay) Cockerill, Brodie (Jinny) Maust, Caleb (Katie) Maust, Maggie (Jerome) Isaac, Kyle (Kelly) Maust, Elizabeth (Corey) Taylor and Lydia (James) Horning; two step-grandchildren, Stacey (Andy) Fitzpatrick and Clay Cruea; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place.

Arrangement for a memorial service and burial in Washington Cemetery are being completed and will be announced by the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

JENNIFER LOUISE EDWARDS

Jennifer Louise Edwards, 55, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 4:55 a.m. at her home.

She was born April 25, 1966, in Delaware, Ohio to Charles Roger and Ina Lavonna Spires Edwards.  She moved to Washington Court House in 1969, from Delaware, Ohio.

Jennifer was formerly employed by Fayette Progressive Industries.

She was preceded in death by her mother on September 6, 2016, and her father on October 30, 2016.

Jennifer is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Ruby Edwards of Frankfort, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Orlan Schulte of Gerald, MO; nieces and nephews, Nikole and Dennis Wilt, Christopher Hurtt and his wife, Allison, Tony and Darci Satterfield and C.J. Satterfield and several great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Highlawn Cemetery with Todd Maurer, involvement minister at the South Side Church of Christ, officiating.

Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

ELLIOTTE JO “ELLIE” MUNRO

Elliotte Jo “Ellie” Munro, was stillborn Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.  She is the daughter of Kendal Blake and Ginger Lee Elliott Munro, of Washington Court House, Ohio.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her sisters, Hailee and Sophia Schirm; grandparents, Jack and Ruth Elliott of Washington Court House, Yong Hui Elliott of Frankfort, OH, Dennis and Diane Munro of Washington Court House, Josie Munro of Jeffersonville, OH and Henry and Tess Evans of Frankfort; aunts, Kami (Michael) Beegle of Louisville, KY, Kendra (Jackie) Lansing of Jacksonville, FL, Susan (Rich) Corthell and Andrea (Paul) Deckard, all of Monroe, OH and numerous cousins.

A private family service will be held Monday, December 13, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with words offered by Richard Corthell and Hailee Schirm.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville.

NORA JEAN RAMEY

Nora Jean Ramey, 69, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 12:55 a.m. at Concepts of Community Living in Mount Vernon where she had been a longtime resident.

She was born December 24, 1951, in Springfield, Ohio to Lee and June Troute Ramey, both of whom preceded her in death.

Nora is survived by several cousins, including Kim (Gary) Mickle of Washington Court House, OH, Lois Marks of Louisville, OH, Cynda Lanning Pearce, Jennifer Lanning and Julia Lanning, all of Lawrenceville, GA. and the loving staff, caregivers and friends at Concepts of Community Living who were her family for many years.

A graveside service will be held Monday, November 29, 2021, at 12 Noon at the Washington Cemetery with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

BETTY ANN HURTT

Betty Ann Hurtt, 83, of New Holland, Ohio, died Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 6 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington Court House where she had been a resident since May 9, 2016.

Betty was born November 19, 1937, in Pickaway County, Ohio to Dean and Ruth Lucille Landman Speakman and was reared by her mother and step-father, Virgil Grant Farmer.  She was a 1956 graduate of New Holland High School and lived most of her life in the New Holland community.

She had been a beautician and had worked in several area beauty shops.  She had also been a babysitter and formerly served as activities director at Wintersong Village and Quiet Acres Nursing Home.

Betty was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ.

On June 15, 1958, she married Paul Edwin Hurtt.  He preceded her in death on March 2, 2017.

Betty is survived by two sons, Mark Hurtt and his husband, Todd Koger of Columbus and Brian Hurtt of Akron; a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and John Womack of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Blythe and Megan Oty and Mallory Moser and her husband, Jared; six great grandchildren, Saraya, Keiyanna, Makayla, Madison, Marquis and K’Veon and a sister, Carolyn Jean Speakman of Groveport, Ohio.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will be observed and there will be no visitation or service.

CRYSTAL LEE CHRISMAN (Service Update)

Crystal Lee Chrisman, 54, of Columbus, Ohio went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 3 p.m. at the Eastland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus where she had been a patient several weeks.  She had been in failing health several months.

Crystal was born July 29, 1967, in Columbus, Ohio to Robert L. and Mary Jane Cherry Chrisman.  She was a 1985 graduate of Miami Trace High School and spent most of her life in New Holland and Washington Court House.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Chrisman and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cherry; a brother, Craig Chrisman, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her parents, Robert L. and Mary Jane Chrisman of New Holland; a son, Cholby (Kari) Jones of New Holland; a daughter, Chyla (Cody) Eubanks of Washington Court House; four grandchildren, Kaylee, Kyndall, Konley and  Kaylin; a sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Mark Gass of Powell and a niece and nephew, Eryn Gass and Evan Gass.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will be observed.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 11 a.m.  in the New Holland Cemetery with Danny Dodds, minister at the Greenfield Church of Christ, officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland.

MILDRED L. SMITH

Mildred L. Smith, 88, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Monday, November 15, 2021, at 9 p.m. at the Adena Fayette Medical Center where she had been a patient since October 30.

She was born September 7, 1933, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Edward L. and Irene Lucille Campbell Sword.  She was a graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community.

Before her retirement, she was a longtime employee of K-Mart in Washington Court House.  She was an artist and loved to paint and several of her paintings are displayed in offices in Washington Court House.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Vernon Smith.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Eric A. Smith of Washington Court House and Jerry L. Smith and his girlfriend, Dolly McCrimmon, of Auburndale, FL; a granddaughter, Ashley M. Smith; a brother, Marvin Leonard Smith of Florida and Edward L. “Duke” Smith of Louisville, KY and a sister, Doris Jean Hunter of Dayton.

Cremation was observed. A private family remembrance will be held at a later date.

WILLIAM BRYAN “BUTCH” SHEETS, JR.

William Bryan “Butch” Sheets, Jr. 74, of New Holland, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 1:21 p.m. at his residence.  He had been ill since July.

Butch was born March 27, 1947, in New Holland, Ohio, to William Bryan and Margaret Ellen Watson Sheets.  He was a 1965 graduate of Miami Trace High School and a lifelong resident of New Holland.

Before his retirement, he had worked in the maintenance department at the General Electric Lamp Plant in Circleville for over 40 years.  He was also a farmer.

Butch was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

On April 2, 1966, he married the former Nancy Anne Noble.  She preceded him in death on August 25, 2017.  He was also preceded by his parents and four sisters, Ruth Odessa Sheets, (Margaret) Irene Sheets, Frances Dinkler and Vicki Turner.

Butch is survived by three children, Dan Sheets and his wife, Vickie, Bryan Sheets and his wife, Nikki, and Becky Sheets, all of New Holland and a grandson, David Tyndall who was reared in the Sheets home.  Other grandchildren are Brittany Peters and her husband, Andy, Marissa Ratliff and her husband, Grant, Bryson and Brady Sheets and Rachael Briggs.  Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ellsworth, Camry and Paxton Long, Adalynn, Layton and Natalee Briggs; and a sister and brother-in-law, June and Raymond Young of Hebron and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Friday, November 19, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the New Holland Church of Christ with the Rev. Victor Slutz, officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland Thursday from 4-8 p.m.

JODI RENEE FLOWERS

Jodi Renee Flowers, 54, of Frankfort, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:47 p.m. shortly after arrival at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.  Her death was sudden and unexpected.

Jodi was born October 6, 1967, in Washington Court House to Robert Lee and Sharon Victoria Oiler Bonecutter.  She was a 1986 graduate of Washington High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.

She had formerly been a counselor with the Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center.

Jodi attended the Heritage Memorial Church of Christ in Christian Union.  She enjoyed camping, swimming, and going to the beach, but she especially loved being with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father on June 26, 1992, and her grandparents, Sam and Dorothy Oiler and Kenneth and Maudaline Bonecutter.

Jodi is survived by her husband, Jason Alan Flowers, whom she married February 29, 2000; four children, Anthony Joseph and his wife, Rachel, and Kyle Joseph and his wife, Amanda, all of Leesburg and Samantha Marrero and her husband, Kevin, and Jason B. Flowers, all of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Autumn, Presley, Luke and Colton Joseph and Adalynn and Dallas Marrero; her mother, Sharon Anthony of Washington Court House; siblings, Krystal Longberry and her husband, Brian, and Bryan Anthony, all of Washington Court House and Jenny Bonecutter of Lattaville, OH and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Esto Haithcock, Jr., pastor at the Burning Bush Community Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.

ROSE ANN WALTERS

Rose Ann Walters, 59, of Princeton, WV died Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 6:45 p.m. at the Charleston (WV) Area Medical Center where she had been a patient since October 20.

Rose was born April 17, 1962, in Circleville, Ohio to Fred and Carolyn Sue Cockrell Smith.  She was a 1980 graduate of Teays Valley High School and lived most of her life in Pickaway County and the Orient community before moving to West Virginia three years ago.

She had formerly been a home health aide.

Rose was an avid OSU Buckeye fan and loved her family and being with them.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 2016, and her grandparents, Ernest and Frances Cockrell.

Rose is survived by two sons, Cody Walters  of Martinsville, IN and Cory Walters and his girlfriend, Deanna Souders, of Grove City, OH; two grandchildren, Maisyn and Case Walters; her father, Fred Smith of Princeton, WV; four siblings, Dan Smith and his wife, Anita, of Circleville, Melinda Sue Short and her friend, Robert East, of Ashville, OH, Steve Smith and his wife, Toni, of Commercial Point, Jennifer Farley and her husband, Joe, of Princeton, WV; a brother-in-law, Steven Short of Ashville and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 6 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House, Ohio with her son, Cory Walters, officiating.  Following cremation, burial of the cremains will be in the Beckett Cemetery in Commercial Point, OH.

Friends may call at funeral home Saturday from 4 p.m. until time of the service.
