Wilma Geraldine “Gerry” Manning, 91, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Monday, October 21, 2024, at 1:36 a.m. at Copper Noll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident since April 6, 2024.

Gerry was born August 25, 1933, at Peebles in Adams County, Ohio to Walter Ray and Sylvia Lucille Moore Gorman.  She was a graduate of Washington High School and lived most of her life in this community.,

On July 20, 1953, she married Lendil Willis Manning.  He preceded her in death on February 2, 2008.  She was also preceded in death a son, Danny Willis Manning, a daughter-in-law, Wendy Manning; her parents and two brothers, M. Dale Gorman and infant brother, Melvin M. Gorman

She is survived by two children, James L. Manning of Jeffersonville and Peggy Parker and her husband, Blane, of Biloxi, MS; five step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Carol Stephens and Jenny Connelly, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.

John Charles DeWitt, Jr., 58, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Friday, October 18, 2024, at 2:04 p.m. at his home.  He had been in failing health.

John was born April 10, 1966, in Rochester, New York, to John Charles and Pauline Beahan DeWitt.  He moved to Washington Court House in 2007, from Georgia.

Until his illness, he had been a forklift operator at Stephens Pipe and Steel in Mount Sterling.

He enjoyed watching television while drinking Natural Ice.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debbie Hassel.

He is survived by a daughter, Kayla M. DeWitt of Trotwood, OH; his daughter’s mother, Tiffany Owens DeWitt of Trotwood and two sisters, Annette Hanson of Snellville, Georgia and Tammy Elensky of Washington Court House.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or service.

Thomas Neil Wilkins, 64, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 1:20 a.m. at the Adena Reginal Medical Center in Chillicothe where he had been a patient since October 5.

Tom was born February 8, 1960, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Neil Francis and Starlie Clara Yenrick Wilkins.  He was a 1978 graduate of Miami Trace High School and received as associate degree from DeVry University in Columbus.

He had been an electrical engineer with ABB in Columbus for the past 40 years.

He was a member of Fayette Aerie #423 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Washington Court House Lodge #129 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.  He was a musician and had formerly played bass guitar in area bands.  He also enjoyed golfing.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1981, and his mother in 2013.

Tom is survived by two sons, Trevor Wilkins and Trent Wilkins and his fiancée, Brianna Longberry; his former wife, Chris Wilkins; a sister, Melanie Vince and her husband, William, of Washington Court House and a niece, Kristi (Kyle) Browning of Lebanon.

The funeral will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Jon R. Creamer, minister at the Heart To Heart Christian Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Calvin Roy Sergent on Thursday, October 10,  2024, at the age of 90.

Calvin was born on March 25, 1934, in London, Kentucky to the late Moss and Maggie Sergent.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Calvin’s great personality, amazing storytelling and playful banter made him a joy to be around.

He worked as a heavy machine operator in the mining industry for over 40 years. Before that, he worked with his father in the home building industry.

As a patriotic American, he served in the United States Marine Corp. and, up to his passing, he displayed the American & Marine Corp flags in his front yard.

Calvin is survived by the love of his life and beloved wife of 54 years, Candace Sue Pierson Sergent; his children, Nelson (Cynthia) Sergent, Lynn Johnson, Lisa (Dwayne) Miller, Lori (Shawn) Garver and Tamara (Dean) Tschannen; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane Hibbard and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday, October 14, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, 554 Washington Ave., Washington Court House, OH.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Moore, 71, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2 a.m. at her home.

Shirley was born January 28, 1953, in Fayette County, Ohio to Leroy and Katherine Suttles Mongold.  She lived most of her life in Bloomingburg and Washington Court House.

She had formerly been a cashier at Sister’s Tanning.

Shirley enjoyed riding horses, playing music and writing, but she particularly liked spending time with her grandchildren.

On January 16, 1971, she married Lester G. Moore.  He preceded her in death on February 28, 2024.  She was also preceded by her father, Leroy Mongold; her mother, Katherine Carr and three siblings, Keith, Ed and Linda.

Shirley is survived by three children, Ricky Moore and his wife, Billie, of Bloomingburg, Jeremy Moore of Washington Court House and Tammy Knisley and her husband, Richard, of Washington Court House; 12 grandchildren, Chelsea Moore, Michael Moore, Mitchell Gordon, Emily Gordon, Tori Moore, Gage Gordon, Jennifer (Casey) Woods, Dusty Knisley, Richie Knisley, Amber Hyer, Katie Hyer and Mika Ingram; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Randy Mongold and Tom (Kim) Mongold; three sisters, Dolly Arians, Debbie Curnutte and Kathy (Mike) Saltz, all of Washington Court House and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.  Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery.

Carl Andrew Gordon, 54, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday, September 27, 2024, at 6:29 p.m. at his home.

Carl was born October 1, 1969, in Fayette County, Ohio to Andrew Junior and Rose Marie Pickering Gordon.  He was a graduate of Washington High School.

He often used humor to lighten the mood of most situations and enjoyed seeing people smile because of him.  Visiting Kings Island was the highlight of his year when he was in good health.  He loved watching wrestling and spending time with his housemates.  Carl’s favorite holiday was Halloween as he often talked about Jason and many other horror characters.

He was preceded in death his mother.  He loved her dearly and talked about her daily.  He shared her love for him to everyone he met.

A graveside service will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Bloomingburg Cemetery with David Burriss officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Pence, 81, of New Holland, Ohio died Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 6 p.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe where she had been a patient since September 17.

Liz was born June 1, 1943, in Fayette County, Ohio to Floyd Woodrow and Betty Mae Boyd Redding.  She lived most of her life in the New Holland community.

She formerly had worked at McKesson Corporation in Washington Court House and Willow Wood in Mount Sterling.

Liz enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On May 28, 1960, she married Robert Arthur Pence.  He preceded her in death on March 12, 2009.  She was also preceded by a son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Leslie Pence and siblings, Alberta, Verner, Annabelle, William “Bill” and Floyd “Pete” Redding, Carolyn Pence and Lily Self.

She is survived by  daughter and son-in-law, Tirina and Larry Mollohan of Bloomingburg; three grandchildren, Dustin (Rachael) Pence of Circleville, April (Brian) Dollison of Chillicothe and Crystal (Mike) McClaskie of London; eight great grandchildren, Gabriel and Emily Decker, Morgan, Bailey and Cayden Pence, Alyssa and Connor Dollison and Nikki McClaskie; five siblings, Thelma Redding of Washington Court House, Clark (Susan) Redding of Atlanta, Sherman (Danna) Redding of New Holland, Lucretia (Clarence Lunsford) Bethel of Frankfort and Berniece (Larry) Perkins of Sedalia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the New Holland Church of Christ in Christian Union with Crystal Spriggs, minister at the church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Waterloo Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.

Beverly Jo Carman Ingram, 90, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 4:20 a.m. at Court House Manor Nursing Home where she had been residing since May 26, 2023.

Beverly was born July 20, 1934, in Fayette County, Ohio to Joseph and Edna Mae Holahan Carman.  She was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of her life in this community.

She had formerly been a cashier at Craig’ s Department Store.

She was a lifelong member of WCH Grace Methodist Church; was a charter member of the Fayette County Community Band and had been a member of the Washington C.H. Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution and Royal Chapter #29 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

On November 17, 1956, she married Herman Howard “Hoss” Ingram.  He preceded her in death on May 10, 2012.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Brenda Ingram of Washington Court House; a grandson, Dr. Samuel Ingram and his wife, Jennifer, of Alexandria, Virginia and two sisters-in-law, Ann Baird of Washington Court House and Ruby Shackelford and her husband, Ben, of Niceville, Florida.

The funeral will be Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 12 Noon at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with John Meriweather officiating..  Burial will follow in the Bush Cemetery.

Ronnie Lee Nixon, 75, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Monday, September 16, 2024, at 9:46 a.m. at his home.

Ronnie was born March 13, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio to Ronald Fern and Margaret Louise Strong Nixon.  He moved to Washington Court House in 2017, from Thornville, Ohio.

Before his retirement, was a factory worker.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Ronnie enjoyed boating and going to Buckeye Lake.

He is survived by five children, Marcia Nixon and Tammy Nixon, both of Columbus, Jessica Nixon and Ronda Nixon, both of Washington Court House and Ryan Nixon of Newark.  Also surviving are six grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

To honor his wishes, following a private family visitation, cremation will take place.

Doris Evelyn Russell, 95, of New Holland, Ohio died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 3:20 a.m. at Court House Manor Nursing Home where she had been a patient since August 6.

Doris was born May 13, 1929, in New Holland, Ohio to Leroy and Helen Stonerock Funk and was a lifelong resident of the New Holland community.

She attended the Good Hope United Methodist Church and the New Holland Methodist Church.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting and took great pride in teaching her great granddaughter, Chloe Russell, how to quilt.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. “Jack” Russell on October 10, 2019; by three brothers, Edmond, Gene and Dale Funk and two sisters, Janet Hooks and Helen Ingram.

Doris considered her greatest gift from God to be her children and devoted grandchildren, all of whom made them a family.

She is survived by three children, Tony Speakman and his wife, Sylvia, of Galveston, TX, Tim Williams and his wife, Renee, of St. Cloud, FL and Mark Russell and his wife, Teri, of Mount Sterling, KY; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday, September 20, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with the Rev. David Yinger, pastor at the Brown’s Chapel and Clarksburg United Methodist Churches, officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
