PHYLLIS EVELYN SLAYTON

Phyllis Evelyn Slayton, 89, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Tuesday, March 24, 2026,  12:29 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington Court House where she had been residing since 2020.

Phyllis was born November 25, 1936, in Highland County, Ohio to Homer Claude and Fayette Mercer McConnaughey.  She lived most of her life in the Washington Court House and Grove City communities.

She had formerly worked for Industrial Nucleonics, which evolved into AccuRay, which later became part of ABB.

Phillis had attended the McNair Memorial Presbyterian Church in Washington Court House and the Grove City Presbyterian Church.

On December 19, 1959, she married Monty Carliss “Slats” Slayton.  He preceded her in death on April 9, 2009.  She was the last of a family of ten siblings.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry C. and KyLynn Slayton of Lorain, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held in the Washingtons Cemetery under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
