Marilee Grace Peterson, 85, of Washington Court House, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at 12:49 p.m. at Carriage Court Assisted Living in Washington Court House.
Marilee was born May 6, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio to Leroy Jacob and Mary Melissa Rownd Greshel. She was a 1957 graduate of North High School in Columbus and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University in 1961. She moved to Fayette County in 1960, from Columbus.
She was a registered nurse in the obstetrics department at Fayette County Memorial Hospital for many years before her retirement in 2000. Following her retirement, she assisted with the Help Me Grow program.
Marilee was a member of WCH Grace Methodist Church and the women’s circle at the church. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women, Mother’s Circle, the Fayette County Professional Nurses Association, Fayette County Farm Bureau, was past state president of the Soil and Water Conservation District Auxiliary and had been a volunteer with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and traveling but especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and his wife, James T. and Lois Greshel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hughina and Gordon Knowlton, Ahmad Tahir and David Lingo.
Marilee is survived by her husband, John Albert Peterson whom she married September 11, 1960; four children and their spouses, Bob and Lisa Peterson of Washington Court House, Margaret and Doug Haddix of Powell, Ohio, John H. and Julie Peterson of Washington Court House and Janet and Robert Terrell of Lebanon, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Sarah (John) Bolte, Hannah (Cole) Zavar, Todd Peterson, Meredith (Alex Wood) Haddix, Connor Haddix, Tori Peterson, Andrew Peterson, Will (Kayleigh) Terrell, Jenna Terrell and Meg Terrell; three great granddaughters, Maria, Rosie and Cecilia Bolte and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Ron Kile, Elizabeth Tahir and Eleanor Lingo.
The funeral will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. at WCH Grace Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Brookes, pastor at the church officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the New Burlington Cemetery in Clinton County.
Friends may call at the WCH Grace Methodist Church Friday, February 14, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
