Pamela Sue Kitchen, 63, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 11:08 p.m. at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus where she had been a patient since Tuesday.
Pam was born January 1, 1961, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Norman Dean and Mary Haines Cox, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a life-long resident of this community.
She touched many lives in her 27-years as a health care receptionist.
Pam was a member of the Staunton United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed traveling to Pigeon Forge, TN and visiting Dollywood. She was an avid fan of Dolly Parton and Paula Deen but her greatest love was being with her grandchildren.
Pam is survived by her husband, Terry Lee Kitchen, whom she married March 5, 1977; two children, Scott Kitchen and his wife, Jada, and Tara Shoemaker and her husband, Heath, all of Washington Court House; seven grandchildren, Damian (Chad Foust) Kitchen, Cameron Kitchen, Will Dawes, Laura Dawes, Treven (Courtney Arnold) Shoemaker, Brayden Shoemaker and Hope Shoemaker; a great grandson, Samson Shoemaker; her sister and best friend, Gale Thompson and her husband, Jeff; a brother, Larry Cox, all of Washington Court House and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Gathering Place Church with John Pfeifer, pastor at the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Staunton United Methodist Church, c/o Molly Mickle, 555 High Street, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

She was a great woman! Our conversations were never dull, always joking and laughing. I’m truly blessed to have had the opportunity to have worked with her these last 8 years. She loved her family deeply! She will be missed greatly! My prayers are with you all in this sad time!

It is with great sadness I am typing these words but what an impact Pam had on her patients, their family members, and her co-workers. She was caring and compassionate for people in general. Those characteristics are essential if you’re going to work in healthcare.
She loved her family – you never had to ask – you could tell from the words she spoke. I’m so glad I got to know Pam and work with her at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. I witnessed her care and compassion on many occasions.
