BARBARA JEAN WILSON

Barbara Jean Wilson, age 86, died peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 9:55 p.m. at Court House Manor in Washington Court House where she had been residing since April 2023.

Barbara was born on August 30, 1937, in Fayette County, Ohio to David Ray Sr. and Marzella Frances Lowe Kimball.  She was a 1955 graduate of Bloomingburg High School and was a life-long member of this community.

On June 30, 1984, she married Thomas Dale Wilson. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents (1995 and 2003 respectively), a daughter, Jeri Ellen McCoy in 2015, and two brothers, David Ray “Sonny” Kimball Jr. in 2016, and Norman Francis Kimball in 1994.

Barbara is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law:  Kim Elaine McCoy (Duke Willis) and Mikki Jo Hunter Smith (George) of WCH and Toni Lynn (Terry) Miller of Chillicothe; five grandchildren: Derek Miller, Caitie (Cory) Huffman, Jessie (Adam) Baldwin, Ryan Simmons and Sara Simmons, five great grandchildren: Daniel Miller, Reese and Kip Huffman, Claire and Jedd Baldwin, one great-great granddaughter Mya Benson Miller and five step grandchildren: Erin Smith, Emily (Spencer) Bradley, Jessica (Bob Roy) Willis, Kellie (Cameron) Schwalbach (Boden and River) and Nick Willis. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Gary W. and Donna Kimball of Washington Court House and sisters-in-law Janet Kimball of Marion, VA and Mary Cox of Washington Court House, two brothers-in law: Ronnie (Karen) Wilson and Lonnie (Jan) Wilson, many nieces and nephews and a special “daughter from another mother” Kim Emrick Church, of Palatka, FL.  Barbara’s first husband and father of her daughters, Jerry W. McCoy, also survives her.

Barbara retired from her employment with the State of Ohio in 1995. She was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the WCH VFW for many years. Anyone who ate at the Women’s Auxiliary breakfast fundraisers over the years knew what her family knew – she was an excellent cook, and her sausage gravy and biscuits were the best! She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her spare time. She loved her dogs like the family they were and outlived three fur babies: Guido, Missy and Roxy. Her last love, Penny, is still with us and has her forever home with Mikki.

To honor her wishes cremation will be observed and a graveside service and interment will be held later to be announced by the family and Kirkpatrick Funeral Home.

The family thanks the staff at Court House Manor for their kindness and thoughtfulness during Barbara’s stay there. And a heartfelt THANK YOU to Lauren and Katie (Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County) for your dedication and guidance.
