V. Charlene Monroe, 80, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, August 12, 2021, at 11:45 a.m. at her home. She had been in failing health.
Charlene was born September 30, 1940, in Fayette County, Ohio to Charles Herschel and Vesper Vlanche Rosell Hicks and was a lifelong resident of this community.
Charlene had been a member of the Bloomingburg United Methodist Church and attended the South Side Church of Christ.
On July 26, 1955, she married Earl Cecil Monroe. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2017. She was also preceded by a brother, Blanchard Hicks.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl (Rick) and Patty Monroe, Jr. and Troy A. and Crystal Monroe, all of Washington Court House; three grandsons, Zachary Monroe, Joshua Monroe and Jason (Hillary) Monroe; a great grandson, Everest J. Monroe; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Doreen Hicks of Marysville, OH; three sisters-in-law, Janet Hicks, Janet Monroe and Rita Mason; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Alma Keubler, Terry Cremeans, Barb Seitz and Carmel Martin.
The funeral will be Monday, August 16, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Danny Dodds, minister at Greenfield Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 12 noon until time of the service.
