Shirley May Matthews, 71, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 5:54 p.m. at her home.
Shirley was born February 27, 1946, at Butler in Hamilton County, Ohio to Elwood Wallace and Naomi Marie Carpenter Noel. She was a graduate of William Henry Harrison High School in Harrison, Ohio and moved to Washington Court House in 1986, from Chester, WV.
She formerly was an x-ray clerk at Bethesda Oak Hospital in Cincinnati and later worked at the Laura Ashley store at Prime Outlets. She then was a clerk at Fayette County Memorial Hospital for 14 years before her retirement in 2012.
Shirley was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Melvin L. Noel and a brother-in-law, George F. Hollin.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard A. Matthews whom she married August 26, 1972; three daughters and sons-in-law, Keziah and Mark Campbell of Mitchell, IN, Kassandra and Jason Cassady of Ashville, Ohio and Keturah and Andrew Bennett of Washington Court House; five grandchildren, Joshua Campbell, Kaleb Cassady, Robert, Kamika and Korinthia Bennett; a sister, Emogene Hollin of Hamilton, Ohio and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary Ray (her twin) and Cindy Noel of Bright, IN and George Richard and Linda Noel of Harrison, Ohio.
The funeral will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Russell Lieb, evangelist at the Mount Olive Church of Christ in New Vienna, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
