Ruth Elinor Beeman May, 94, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, Thanksgiving Day, at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber Community where she had been residing the past five years.
Ruth was born on April 25, 1924, in Richwood, Ohio to William Edgar and Hazel Margaret Dern Beeman.
On July 3, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, she married Joseph Paul May. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded by three sisters, Helen, Alice and Donna.
She assisted her husband with his business, Paul May Realtor, and they helped found Clintonville’s Community Resource Center.
Ruth will be remembered as a gentle, loving mother and service-oriented Christian devoted to helping others.
She is survived by five children, Stephen, Christine, Georgiana, Edgar, and Donna; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. in the New Holland Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Dunham, pastor at the New Holland United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at the North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 East North Broadway Street Columbus, Ohio.

I’ll always remember how loving and kind my Aunt Ruth was to us kids whenever we’d visit. She made a deep impression on me that will be with me all my life. Our prayers and love are with the family now.
