Roy Eugene Penwell, 80, of Wilmington, Ohio died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 10:40 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Care Center in Piketon where he had been residing since March 29.

Roy was born July 9, 1937, at Jasper Mills in Fayette County, Ohio to Milton and Lorene Graves Penwell.

He had formerly been a plumber and later was a certified nurse assistant.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Leloni (Samm) Shotsky Penwell.

He is survived by four children, Penny Lamerson of Piketon, Larry Penwell of Peebles, Roy Penwell, Jr. of Dayton and Missy Penwell of Greenfield; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Ray Souder of Wilmington and two dogs, Heidi and Rufus, whom he loved dearly.

A graveside service will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Washington Cemetery with Pastor Todd Ernst officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

The family would like to thank Janet Zurface and all of Roy’s caregivers for the love and care they provided him.  He is now in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

    Please accept my condolences. I have found comfort in God’s word, the Bible. Such as the future earthly hope for our loved ones found at John 5:28,29: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.”
