Roger Whitley, 85, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 2:52 a.m. at his home. He had been in failing health.
Roger was born April 27, 1935, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. He was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of his life in this community.
Before his retirement in 1990, he had worked 35 years as an installer for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company,
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Whitley and a daughter, Vikki Bock Collins.
Roger is survived his wife, the former Martha Joyce Hughes whom he married February 3, 1962; by three sons and daughters-in-law, Galen and Beverly Bock, of Washington Court House, Troy and Sin Kim Whitley of Springfield, VA and Cliff and Renee Whitley of Chester, OH; a son-in-law, Jeff Collins of Seaman, OH and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation took place.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021, at 2 p.m. in Washington Cemetery with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 301 East Market Street, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Wallington Court House.
