Rex Arlen Brooks, 75, of Atlanta, Ohio died Sunday, October 4, 2020, at 12:55 p.m. at his home. He had been in failing health since March.
Rex was born March 8, 1945, at Proctorville in Lawrence County, Ohio to Vivan Ray and Allie Davis Brooks. He lived most of his life in the Atlanta community.
Before his retirement in 2008, he had been a program specialist at the Pickaway Correctional Institute for 25 years.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Erma Pollard.
He is survived by his wife, the former Linda Lou Picklesimer, whom he married October 14, 1971; five sons, David (Sharon) Sowers of Frankfort, Donnie (Belinda Mullins) Sowers of Clarksburg, Dale (Samantha) Sowers of Frankfort, Eric Brooks and Andy (Christie) Brooks, all of Springfield, OH; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice Boysel of Circleville and Leona “Toots” Bochard and her husband, Delbert, of Chillicothe; three brothers-in-law, Billy Jo (Ingrid) Picklesimer of Washington Court House, Jerry (Brenda) Picklesimer of New Holland, Michael (Danne) Picklesimer of Greenfield and a sister-in-law, Terri (Gene) Davis of Clarksburg.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place. There will be no visitation or service.
