Michael Jay Putney, 66, of Greenfield, Ohio died Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. at his residence. He had been ill the past year.
Jay was born August 10, 1952, in Greenfield, Ohio to James Isaac and Pansey Marie Davis Putney. He lived most of his life in the Staunton community before moving to Greenfield three years ago.
He had formerly worked for Dewey Cockerill Concrete and Mac Tools, Inc.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Randy and Bob Putney and a sister, Carolyn Bell.
He is survived by four children, Carrie Bledsoe and her husband, Kevin, of McArthur, James (J.J.) Putney of Washington Court House, Brandi Shoemaker of Leesburg, Ohio, and Preston L. Bowman of Washington Court House; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Rita Putney of New Martinsburg and Chuck and Kathy Putney of Washington Court House; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and John Merritt of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place. A family gathering of remembrance will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
