Mary Elizabeth Haines, 87, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 9:17 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington Court House where she had been a patient since January 11, 2021.
She was born March 17, 1933, in Fayette County, Ohio at New Martinsburg, to Ralph Raymond and J. Oletha Rolfe Rittenhouse. She was a graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School in Greenfield and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County.
Although she formerly had been a beautician, she was a loving and supportive stay-at-home mother. She was a member of Chapter #121 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting, was an amateur ballroom dancer and also loved square dancing with her husband and line dancing.
On August 29, 1955, she married Harry Dean Haines. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1999. She was also preceded by a son, Mark Steven Haines in 1988; a sister, Elsie Rittenhouse Howard and two brothers-in-law, Jack Cave and Robert Howard.
She is survived by a son, Brian Keith Haines; two daughters, Cynthia Pastore and her husband, Andy, and Dawn Haines, all of Washington Court House; two step-sons, Harry D. Haines, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Washington Court House and Gurney Haines of Springfield; three step-grandchildren, Jay Haines, Jason Haines and Amber (Phil) Sollars, several step great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Judy Rittenhouse of Washington Court House and two sisters, Ruby Cave and Donna Pruitt and her husband, Junior, all of London, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, February 26, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Todd Maurer, connections minister at the South Side Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Grove Cemetery.
