Joyce Poe Roberts, 73, of Jamestown, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 10:38 a.m. at her home. Her death was sudden and unexpected.
Joyce was born November 4, 1945, in Fayette County, Ohio to Ottis H. and Opal L. Warner Watson. She was a lifelong resident of this community.
Joyce worked many years as a nurse’s aide at Court House Manor.
She enjoyed gardening, playing computer games and spending time with her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alva, Milford and Elroy “Bub” Watson; a sister, Linda Lou Phillips; a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Gorman and a sister-in-law, Kay Watson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Roberts, whom she married July 1, 2010; three children, James “Bo” Miller and his wife, Betsy, of Washington Court House, Roger Shadley of Olive Hill, KY; and Loria Riley of Lynchburg, OH; three grandchildren, Rachel Riley, Mackenzie Miller and Julia Miller; two great grandchildren, Riley and Michael Pierce; siblings, Ernest (Janice) Watson, Willie (Emma) Watson, Shirley (Jerry) Carnahan, Kay Gorman, Jay Watson, Calvin (Marsha) Watson, Henrietta Payton, Roger Watson and Georgia Watson and her two beloved dogs, Cocoa and Smokey. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral will be Monday, December 3, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Burial will follow in the New Silvercreek Cemetery in Jamestown, OH.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Monday until time of the service.
