Jean Allison Stokes, 97, of New Holland, Ohio died Friday, March 5, 2021, at 12:40 a.m. at Carriage Court Assisted Living in Washington Court House where she had been residing since February 15.
Jean was born December 5, 1923, at Richland in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania to Walter H. and Clara B. Shepard Allison. She lived her younger life in Pennsylvania before moving to New Holland on June 1, 1954.
She formerly was a cook at the New Holland Elementary School and retired as a secretary from Parrett Insurance in Washington Court House.
She was a member of the New Holland United Methodist Church.
On October 27, 1941, she married John C. (Jack) Stokes. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2015. She was also preceded by two daughters, Nancy Jean Holloway on July 10, 2012, and her husband, Paul F. Holloway, on Dec. 15, 2010, and Carol Sue Arnold on Oct. 28, 2007.
Jean is survived by four grandchildren, Mark Holloway and his wife, Susan, of New Holland, Lori Wehner, Amy Stump and her husband, John, and April Blake and her husband, Marion, all of Washington Court House; four great grandchildren, Christopher Wehner and his wife, Tori, of Washington Court House, Bradley Holloway of Bloomingburg, Sarah Holloway Day and her husband, D.J., of Loveland, OH and Lindsey Nicole Stump of Washington Court House; a great great granddaughter, Annistyn Day; a son-in-law, Howard Arnold of Washington Court House; several nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and California and a special friend, Traci Johnson.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with the Rev. Jeffrey Jewell, pastor at the New Holland United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in New Holland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland from 12 Noon Wednesday until time of the service.
