JANE ELIZABETH SOLLARS POPE

Jane Elizabeth Sollars Pope, 54, of Washington Court House, Ohio, passed Friday, September 29, 2017, at 8:49 p.m. at her home.

Jane was born April 12, 1963, in Washington Court House, Ohio to William Myron (Bill) and Margaret Anne (Margie) Ewing Sollars. She was a 1981 graduate of Washington Senior High School and received a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1985.  

Jane was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church. Always an avid traveler, she especially enjoyed exploring the mountains and visiting the beach. She recently took the pilgrimage of a lifetime to Rome this past January to see her son serve Mass for Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. She was a master gardener and had also been a member of Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  

She was a dedicated teacher of Washington City Schools for 28 years at Washington Middle School, Rose Avenue, and Cherry Hill Elementary Schools. She dearly loved teaching but most of all of she loved her students and has kept in touch with many of them over the years.

She was preceded in death by her father in June of 2010 and her niece Shannon Pickens in December of 1989.

Jane is survived by her husband, Don Pope whom she married June 3, 2015; three sons, Isaac Garland of Jeffersonville, Deacon Brett Garland of Columbus and Ryan Garland and his wife, Andrea, of Columbus; a step-daughter, Jessica Gabbard and her husband, Mark, of Richmond, IN; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Dori and Emmaline; her mother, Margaret (Margie) Sollars of Washington Court House; five siblings, Judith (Bob) McClaskey of Columbus, Suzanne (Phil) Pickens of Norcross, GA, Carol (Kenneth) Rowley of New Holland, Nancy (Wayne) Stillings, of Washington Court House and David (Shelley) Sollars of Rocky River, Ohio; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Betty Pope of Richmond, IN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church by the Rev. Father, Michael Hartge, parochial vicar administrator at the church, and the Rev. Father Jan C.P. Sullivan, former pastor of the parish.  Burial will be in the St. Colman Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the St. Colman Parish Hall Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.  Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Fayette County, Inc., 222 North Oakland Avenue, Washington Court House, Ohio  43160.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
