Jack Dempsey White, 88, of Good Hope, Ohio was with his family when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11:10 p.m. at Mount Carmel West in Columbus where he had been a patient the past week following a short illness.

Jack was born January 30, 1929, in Hillsboro, Ohio to Nobel and Ruth Carr White.  He was a graduate of Wayne High School in Good Hope and lived most of his life in the Good Hope community.

He worked 12 years at NCR and then, along with his father and brother, Gene, owned and operated Cave Lake Park for 40 years.

Jack was a member of the Good Hope United Methodist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force and was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.  His favorite activities were hunting, fishing and boating.

On September 17, 1955, he married the former Lora Lou Hoppes.  She preceded him in death on August 17, 2012.   He was also preceded by two sons-in-law, Michael K. Grieves and Steven L. Southworth; a sister-in-law, Carol White; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Bill Shepard and a brother-in-law, Robert Rife.

Jack is survived by three children, Brenda White Southworth, Robert White and Jennifer White Eitel all of Fayette County; three grandchildren, Tobin White, Jessica Elliott and Justin Elliott; three great grandchildren, Austin, Alex and Samuel White; his twin brother, Gene White of Hillsboro, a sister-in-law, Edna Mae Rife of Washington Court House and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Jon R. Silveous, pastor at the Good Hope United Methodist Church,  officiating.  Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
