Donna M. Carter, 98, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at 8:24 p.m. at Carriage Court Assisted Living where she had been residing since January.
She was born May 19, 1920, in Fayette County, Ohio to Homer and Ella Belle Beatty Speakman and was a lifelong resident of this community.
Mrs. Carter was a well-known area seamstress and had also formerly worked at Kaufman’s Bargain Store.
She had been was a member of the First Christian Church.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, William Willard Carter on November 28, 1982; by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Ann and Roger Pope; a grandson, Brian Pope; three brothers, Roy, Virgil and Willard “Shorty” Speakman and four sisters, Ruth Smith, Helen Carter, Doris Klever and Martha Gilliam.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Judy Carter of Columbus; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Pope and Lana Eakins of Orient, Tammy and Dave Ulliman of Westerville, Sue Andrews of Columbus, Greg and Wendy Carter of Columbus and Chris and Stephanie Carter of Cincinnati; nine great grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashley, Abby and Sam Carter, Landon and Liam Pope, Katie Ramirez and Scott and Eric Ulliman; two great great grandsons and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday, December 28, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Todd Maurer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Friday until time of the service.
