David Holmes, 87, of Canal Winchester, Ohio died Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 6:53 p.m. at his home.
David was born November 7, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio to Hubert Creath and Doris Ann Sollars Holmes. He was a graduate of Canal Winchester High School and attended Michigan Technological University. He lived most of his life in Canal Winchester except for time he spent at his beloved “second home” in Copper Harbor, MI.
Before his retirement, he was a registered land surveyor with Dodson-Lindblom Associates, where he had worked his entire career.
David was a member of the Canal Winchester planning and zoning boards and the Canal Winchester Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, the former Thelma F. Irwin whom he married April 4, 1958; two daughters and sons-in-law, Taunya and Scott Strahan and Tamara and Joseph Anderson, all of Canal Winchester; five grandchildren, Anna Strahan, Benjamin (Ashley) Strahan, Nicholas Strahan, Abraham Anderson and Nathaniel Anderson and three great grandchildren, Harper, Payton and Lucy Strahan.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Washington Cemetery under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
A celebration of life service will be held when Covid conditions permit.
