Byron James Carper, 66, of Mount Sterling, Ohio died Friday, June 29, 2018, at 8:38 a.m. at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where he had been a patient since June 15.
Byron was born May 12, 1952, in Sault Sainte Marie, MI to William and Billie McCoy Carper. He moved to Mount Sterling 16 years ago from Washington Court House.
He had been a groundskeeper at the Deer Creek State Park Camping Resort and formerly was a building contractor.
He loved music, hunting and fishing. He brought joy to those around him and touched the lives of many.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pam Carper.
He is survived by his fiancée, Patricia Lynn Wright of Mount Sterling; six children, Heather (Don) Carper and Matthew (Carrie) Carper, all of Omaha, NE, Tara Zinn of Chillicothe, Sean (Kirstie) Carper of Washington Court House, Samantha Carper and Amber Wright, both of Mount Sterling; eight grandchildren and three sisters, Cheryl Frykman of Alaska, Natalie Krammer and Anita Werk, both of Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 2, 2018, at 5 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Bruce Morrison, pastor at the Heritage Memorial Church of Christ in Christian Union, officiating.
