Betty Lou Lininger, 88, of Washington Court House, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 6:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington Court House where she had been a patient three days.
Betty was born February 23, 1933, in Paint Township in Fayette County, Ohio to Joshua Boyd and Gail Marie Tootle Skinner. She was a graduate of Atlanta High School and lived most of her life in this community.
She had formerly been secretary to the superintendent of the Miami Trace Local School District.
Betty formerly attended the First Baptist Church and had been a member of the Western Square Dance Club.
On August 24, 1951, she married Forrest Beverly (Bev) Lininger. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2012. She was also preceded by a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Cindy Lininger; a son-in-law, Steve Burnem; step grandson, Jeremy Burnem; a brother, William “Bud” Skinner and two sisters, Norma Jean Davey and Carrie Stephenson.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Deborah Burnem of Washington Court House and Cheryle Shiltz and her husband, Bruce, of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Brian Blade, Stephanie Blair, Jay (Jennifer) Humphreys and Heidi (Ryan) Morris; two step grandchildren, Stephen Burnem and Bruce Shiltz, Jr. and several great grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Washington Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
