Berniece Ellen Saxour, 92, of New Holland, Ohio died Friday, July 23, 2021, at 5:10 p.m. at Court House Manor where she had been residing since 2016.
Berniece was born April 2, 1929, in New Holland, Ohio to Worley Michael and Bessie Forsythe Funk. She lived most of her life in New Holland where she was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ.
She had formerly been an aide at various area nursing homes.
Berniece was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Adam “Sonny” and Janice Saxour; a grandson, Jason Saxour; five brothers, Neil, Virgil, Harley Allen, Worley (Buster) Funk and Donald Funk and two sisters, W. Marie Funk and Ethel Williams.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cheryl Saxour of New Holland and Richard and Debbie Saxour of Frankfort; a daughter, Mary Ann Riley of Athens, OH; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Vikki) Funk and Larry Funk; seven sisters, Joan East, Ruby Adams, Phyllis McCoy, Linda (Charles) Smith, Carolyn Funk, Marilyn Hettinger and Sarah Jane Picklesimer and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place. A family gathering of remembrance will take place at a later date.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at Court House Manor and Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County for their efficient, kind and loving care of Berniece.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland.
