BARBARA ANN MERRITT

Barbara Ann Merritt, 84, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 11:42 p.m. at Four Seasons Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had been a resident since 2016.

Barbara was born June 24, 1934, in Washington Court House, Ohio to John F. and Loretta Ruth Theobald Hughes.  She was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of her life in this community.

For many years Barbara served as a poll worker for local elections.

On September 12, 1952, she married Jon Dale Merritt.  He preceded her in death on October 3, 2018.  She was also preceded by a daughter, Cindy Merritt; her parents and a brother, Larry F. Hughes.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Robin Merritt of Washington Court House; a daughter, Melody Turner of Reynoldsburg; three grandchildren, Katrina, Justin and Chris; several great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sharon Irons of Washington Court House; two nephews, Mike and Jeff Hughes and their families and several cousins.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2019, from 4-6 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday in the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
