Fay Junior Washburn, 91, of Washington Court House, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 2:16 a.m. at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Jerry Tuttle of Washington Court House.

Fay was born July 21, 1926, at Hillsboro in Highland County, Ohio to Fay Daniel and Carrie Lucille Easter Washburn.  He lived most of his life in this community.

He retired as a lead man from Rockwell International in Columbus in 1985, after 33 years of service.  Following his retirement, he started Washburn’s Mower Shop.

Fay was a member of the New Holland Lions Club and served eight terms as president.  He was also a Melvin Jones Fellow.  He was a 45-year member of New Holland Lodge F. & A.M. #392; the 32nd Degree Masons, Valley of Columbus and the York Rite bodies in Columbus, Chillicothe and Hillsboro.  He was a member of the Alliance of Retired Americans.  In his younger years, he served as financial secretary of Pony League baseball and coached the Med-O-Pure Cowboys Little League baseball team.

On February 12, 1945, he married former Geneva L. Countryman.  She preceded him in death on April 9, 2016.  He was also preceded by a son, Jimmie Wayne Washburn on December 24, 2016; a great grandson, Ashton Rowe; two brothers, Richard (Dick) Washburn and James (Jim) Washburn and a three sisters, Leona Satterfield, Mildred Washburn and Mary Lou Washburn.

Fay is survived by two loving daughters, Rebecca (Larry) Rowe and Tonya (Jerry) Tuttle, of Washington Court House; four grandchildren, Brian (Teresa) Rowe, Dawn (Allen) Dawson, Mindy Willis, all of Washington Court House and  Scott (Melissa) Rowe of Belgrade, MN; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Priest of Leesburg, Ann (Merrill) Kaufman of Delaware and Bonnie (Richard) Benson of  Roy, Utah; several nieces, nephews and his extended family, Kathy, Skylynn, Eric, T.J. and Isiah Barden, Diane Matticks and Jeanie Williamson.  The family extends a special thank you to Pam, Devon, Nicole, Clyde and Vera Hockenberry, Ann Pine and Hospice of Fayette County.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Fay’s nephew, Marland Penwell and Hospice Chaplain Jeff Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery beside his loving wife.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. where a Masonic service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m.
