Raymond Edward Sword, 67, of London, Ohio died Friday, January 27, 2017, at 7:55 a.m. at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where he had been a patient since January 23.
Raymond was born September 9, 1949, at New Martinsburg in Fayette County, Ohio to Raymond Alfred and Florence Marie Cox Sword. He lived most of his life in the Springfield and London communities.
He had formerly worked for Fayette County in road maintenance and also had been a concrete worker.
Ray was preceded in four sisters, Doris Bobst, Mary Knisley, Betty Huff and Florence Overly.
He is survived by a son, Raymond; a daughter, Diana and a granddaughter. He is also survived by a brother, Gerald Ray (Betty) Sword of Samantha; nine sisters, Joan (Bill) Howland of Greenfield, Geraldine Day and Linda (William) Beers, of Springfield, Shirley Metzger of Minnesota, Lois Keck and Edith (Richard) Bagus of Columbus, Gloria (Thomas) Henderson and Carolyn (Michael) Long of Washington Court House and Florence Miller of Hillsboro and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation took place. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Bloomingburg Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
